Massachusetts education advocate and parent John Lerner has an interesting perspective on the recently launched “Fact Check” website posted today on his blog. Lerner takes issue with the site’s claim that MA charters are the highest performing schools in the state, using BPS data to illustrate his point.

The controversial website caused a stir when Governor Charlie Baker joined pro-charter school advocates at the State House event where the site’s release was announced last week. State auditor Suzanne Bump released a statement harshly criticizing the site shortly after the launch, noting, “When incomplete information is presented as fact, as is the case by this campaign, policymakers are not afforded the ability to make unbiased decisions and the public is misled”.
