Announcement of Vacancy

The Massachusetts Association of School Committees is seeking a person with good task management skills, the ability to create and organize written materials, and the commitment to deliver quality member services to local elected officials as its Member Services Coordinator.  The successful applicant will coordinate member services to the 315 school committees and their 2,400 school committee members, expedite the work of association policy development projects, help organize superintendent searches, and respond to daily callers and e-mailers for assistance.

Candidates should be proficient in Microsoft Office software, creating and proofreading documents, and dealing with a diverse constituency that includes school committee members and school district staff who contact MASC for services and with a range of inquiries and requests.

The position is a full time (37.5 hours/week) and is located at MASC’s offices at One McKinley Square, Boston, MA 02109, contiguous to the Aquarium Blue Line Stop and easily accessible to the Financial District and Downtown Boston.

A competitive salary and full fringe benefit package is provided.

Job Description:

  1. Coordinate member services related to policy services.
    1. Schedule and produce policy services materials as required.
    2. Coordinate and distribute policy updates as directed.
    3. Collaborate with field staff as required on work related to policy contracts.
    4. Communicate with field directors regarding status of policy work.
    5. Attend to details of word processing, proofreading, coping, and producing member policy manuals.
  2. Coordinate, under the supervision of the field directors, activities to ensure services and tasks for superintendent searches are accurate, on-time, and to the satisfaction of members.
    1. Coordinate distribution of search information.
    2. Respond to requests for forms, applications, and materials.
    3. Communicate with individuals requests for information related to superintendent searches.
    4. Maintain files and status updates on work projects.
    5. Maintain and protect confidential information.
    6. Follow up on incomplete files.
    7. Collaborate on preparation of materials for screenings.
    8. In coordination with field service staff, assume
    9. responsibilities for correspondence with applicants including selection, rejection, interview schedule, and other notices.
    10. Oversee securing of information related to searches after completion.
  3. Member Services Support
    1. Oversee new member letters and information notifications.
    2. Collaborate with field directors in responding to member and superintendent requests for information.
  4. Association Wide Activities.
    1. Provide pre-event and on-site support for MASC events as requested or directed including training sessions, Day on the Hill, and the Joint Conference
